Note and our recommendation
- Bikes are often designed so that – when an engine protection bar is installed – the footrest and bar touch down at nearly the same lean angle, which is typically uncritical with regard to tyre grip. It's important to keep in mind that various factors – such as the bike's load, or riding through a dip or pothole – can reduce the effective lean angle.
- For riders who want greater clearance before contact, we’ve developed our lean angle indicators (#13515-200), which can be easily screwed to the outside of the original Enduro footrests.

World-travelling adventure riders know this well: there are days when the bike tips over more than once – because the conditions are unlike anything encountered on the well-maintained roads of civilised Europe. Or because fatigue, heat or cold simply sap the strength and stamina to hold the bike upright. Beyond civilisation, it becomes all the more important to rely on equipment that can withstand mechanical stress and just keep going – because staying mobile, moving and independent can be vital to minimising personal risk.
This Wunderlich ULTIMATE engine protection bar is purpose-built for adventure riding.
It reliably protects the cylinders, valve covers, and both lambda sensors. The all-round protection concept increases passive safety and riding enjoyment. In the event of a crash or tip-over, forces are optimally distributed via the bar structure to the solid mounting points, helping to avoid load peaks and reduce material stress. Our ULTIMATE protection bar is also designed to be maintenance-friendly: both the oil drain plug and the filter cartridge are fully accessible without disassembly.
The protection bar is made of 25 mm precision stainless steel tubing. The segments are shaped using CNC pipe bending machines and then neatly welded. Visually, the bar integrates seamlessly into the bike’s design and complements its distinctive look. The stainless steel surface is glass bead blasted and additionally electro-polished.
